LCL XC - Usk - Latest News

Latest information from Usk Runners ahead of Sunday 5th Feb.'s GLCL XC Race :
Race Start 11am Sunday 5th February
A marshall will direct you off the A472 to Car Parking at Monmouthshire County Hall, Usk NP15 1GA… toilets and showers are located at the college … please use amenities here before crossing road at the pelican crossing to the farm.
Please proceed as directed to the race start behind the courtyard and farm offices without visiting other areas of the farm.
Please respect the farm regulation about no eating or drinking outside … please leave food and drink on the County Hall/ College side of the road which is only 2 minutes from the start.
Unfortunately we cannot provide hot drinks on the County Hall/ College side of the road so please come prepared. After the run Trish will be running an excellent cake and squash stall outside the college facilities by the car park to raise money for our chosen charity the MARFAN’S TRUST… please buy a cake and/or squash before you leave.
The recent wet weather means that the wooden bridge back over the stream after passing the pond in the first field and the descent through the final field should be noted as slip hazards.
There will also be barbed wire on some fences.
The ground surface is open pastureland with molehills, tussocks and exposed stones; there are tree roots underfoot on the climb through the woodland.
After the race please use the 10 station bootwash facility at the back of the farm offices to wash off shoes before crossing back over the farm courtyard and road to the college facilities.
Graham, our club chairman , will give a more detailed race briefing before the start.
Enjoy your run in Usk … if the weather is clear you will be rewarded with a superb panorama from the ridge…
