The venue for the fixture is Parc Bryn Bach, Merthyr Road, Tredegar, NP22 3AY.
Parking
Parking for all runners and spectators will be at the Tafarnaubach Industrial Estate located just past the entrance gates to the parc, over the bridge and past the first roundabout. This is an approx. 10-15 minute walk from the start line. PLEASE DO NOT PARK ON THE ROAD LEADING TO THE MAIN PARC ENTRANCE (MERTHYR ROAD) OR ON THE BRIDGE OVER THE HEADS OF THE VALLEYS DUAL CARRIAGEWAY. IN THE EVENT OF ANY CARS PARKING ON THE ROAD OR THE BRIDGE, THE POLICE COULD SUSPEND THE EVENT.
Race Logistics
Headphones
In accordance with UKA Rule 240 S 5, the wearing of headphones, or similar devices, is not permitted in this race. Non-compliance will result in the disqualification of the athlete and if deemed necessary a points penalty against the offending club.
The Race
The course remains unchanged from last year, the race start will be adjacent to the Golf Driving Range, located several hundred meters along the first right turn as you enter the Parc gates with the course heading west for an almost complete loop of the golf course before runners will be directed right towards the lake for an almost a full lap of the lake. You will encounter speed bumps on the road that encircles the lake, be mindful of them - there will be signs or bollards to alert you. Marshalls will direct runners back for a second lap of the golf course and when nearing the bottom of the last downhill section of the golf course, runners will this time be directed left towards the finish which will be found a few meters past the start line. Please be aware that the finish is on gravel and maybe slightly uneven. Having crossed the finishing line, please move away from the finishing area to prevent any unnecessary crowding and potential problems with the chipped timing system. All runners are encouraged NOT to go back onto the course to assist other runners to the finish which could present hazards to other finishers and again potentially effect the chipped timing results.
First Aid
St Johns Ambulance will be in attendance for the duration of the race.
Water Stations
In line with established GLCL practice, the provision of water is the responsibility of you and your Team Managers. Bring your own! In the event of exceptionally hot weather conditions water will be provided at the finish.
Facilities
You will have access to toilets and showers in the Visitor’s Centre, however, there is a charge for the use of showers, both are located at the rear of the building. The GLCL Cross Country Awards are being made after the race at the Visitor Centre, located by the lake.
